As a lead up to the 2010 Australian Open, Kia Motors, major sponsor of the first Grand Slam for the year, has put the agility and versatility of the Kia Soul on show with a choreographed driving display that brings the car to life.

Known as Kia OZ Rock, the performance involved a team of 16 precision drivers taking a fleet of Kia Souls through a series of difficult synchronised manoeuvres in Melbourne’s Docklands in late December.  Like a dance routine, the drivers’ skill and expertise resulted in the formation of a number of patterns and shapes including a tennis racket and a tennis ball, all set to music.

The Kia OZ Rock footage was released today to coincide with the start of the 2010 Australian Open on 18 January.  It can be viewed here - the Kia Motors Australia interactive Australian Open-themed microsite dedicated solely to tennis and the Australian Open.

Kia OZ Rock is the first in a number of activities planned for the Australian Open to reinforce Kia’s passion for tennis and create an even stronger emotional connection with the Australian public.

Kia Motors has been a proud sponsor of the Australian Open in Melbourne since 2002, celebrating the performance of the most elite tennis players in the world including Rafael Nadal, Kia’s global brand ambassador since 2006, and world #1 Roger Federer.

Kia is an exciting force in the automotive world and ready to change the way people feel and think about driving.  From the Rio through to the Sorento, Kia’s latest line up of cars is turning heads. Youthful styling and the latest in advanced technology delivers a range of cars that are practical, exhilarating to drive and have the power to surprise.

The Kia Soul is a car all about freedom – the freedom to stand out from the crowd thanks to its styling and ‘customisability’, freedom of the open road thanks to its fun-to-drive character and freedom of lifestyle through an expressive interior and a seating arrangement which offers the flexibility of a medium-sized MPV or SUV within the footprint of a light car.
